The two-time champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, had a forgetful season last year and with a bid to improve their squad have released 10 players from their squad. There will be a new-look KKR team that we will be seeing in the new season of IPL.
Kolkata Knight Riders:
The players released include seasoned T20 campaigners Chris Lynn Robin Uthappa, Piyush Chawla, Carlos Braithwaite and others. The omission of Robin Uthappa and Piyush Chawla was a big step taken by the KKR management.
Robin Uthappa has been among the consistent performers and run-getters in the IPL playing crucial innings for the KKR franchise. Piyush Chawla is the 3rd highest wicket-taker in the IPL over the years and bowled more than Kuldeep Yadav during the last season.
The hard-hitting Aussie Chris Lynn did not fire much during the last season barring a few games for which he was released and thereby increasing the purse. The same went about with Carlos Braithwaite and he was released as well.
Joe Denly, KC Cariappa and others were also released along with some domestic uncapped players.
The Windies all-rounders Andre Russell and Sunil Narine are the overseas players retained by the Kolkata franchise along with Lockie Ferguson and Harry Gurney. Despite not playing a single game last season, the Kolkata franchise has shown faith in Kamlesh Nagarkoti, the U-19 fast bowler of 2018 World Cup along with Shivam Mavi and batsman Shubman Gill.
Dinesh Karthik and Kuldeep Yadav are the capped Indian players who will turn out for the Kolkata Knight Riders next season after being retained. Other domestic uncapped players to be retained are Nitish Rana, Prasidh Krishna, Sandeep Warrier and others.
Kolkata Knight Riders have brought a replacement for Robin Uthappa in the form of Siddhesh Lad. Siddhesh Lad was traded from the Mumbai Indians during the trade window.

With a purse of Rs. 36.65 crores, KKR have the second biggest purse going into the auctions and with 4 overseas slots from the 11 available. After letting go, Chris Lynn, KKR is in search of a good opening batsman in the squad who can smash from the very first ball.
KKR go in the hunt for Tom Banton who has been a new revelation for England. Eoin Morgan will be another player the KKR support staff will be looking at who can also lead the side as he has done for the England team internationally.
In the bowling department, another overseas player needs to be looked upon as a backup to Lockie Ferguson or someone who can challenge him for the spot. Sheldon Cottrell, Andrew Tye, Adam Milne can come in handy for the two times IPL Champions.
The new coach Brendon McCullum will bring in the best combination into the squad and challenge for another IPL trophy.
