The young prodigy, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, is finally fit and motivated to make his IPL debut. In a candid conversation with Kamlesh Nagarkoti, posted by his IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders, he spoke about his return from injury, training and bonding with the team.
Despite facing injuries before the start of past two seasons and not playing for the Kolkata franchise, KKR have own faith and retained the talented fast bowler from Rajasthan.
Part of the India Under-19 World Cup winning team of 2018, the pacer consistently bowled deliveries above 140+ kmph. The combination of Kamlesh and Shivam Mavi amassed a lot of praise for their bowling exploits.
Finally making it to his debut IPL season
After missing out on the past two years of IPL and still waiting for a debut, Kamlesh Nagarkoti is fit and raring to don the KKR jersey on the field for IPL 2020. He has been in contact with his coaches and trainers to plan a perfect training session to stay fit and play in his first season.
Plans to keep his body fit
As is the case with every fast bowler, Kamlesh went through injury at a very early stage of his career and needs to look after his body. In the conversation, he talked about his plans to keep his body in shape and avoid injuries. With advise from mentors at the NCA, Bengaluru, and the bowling coach at KKR, he received a few pointers on ways he can avoid injuries and has been beneficial after working on it.
Inspiration from Pat Cummins
During his rehab at the NCA, his Indian U-19 coach, Rahul Dravid talked with the pacer about his injuries. Rahul Dravid advised Kamlesh to take things positively and referred to Pat Cummins absence from cricked for 3 years and his return to being among the best bowlers today. Pat Cummins is now a KKR player and Kamlesh is looking forward to interact with him and keep himself motivated to become a success in future.
Comradeship with Shivam Mavi and Shubman Gill
Talking about the bond he shares with Shubman Gill and Shivam Mavi, Nagarkoti expresses how he and Shivam Mavi helped and motivated each other as bowling partners during the Under-19 World Cup. As both Shivam Mavi and Nagarkoti will play together again for KKR in IPL 2020, they are hoping to recreate the comradeship and exploit the batting line up of the opposition.
He shares a special friendship with Shubman Gill from his under-16 years and will be playing together for KKR.
A promising All-Rounder
Apart from being a prodigal fast bowler, Kamlesh also boasts formidable batting prowess. A hard-hitter of the ball he can come in handy as a finisher for KKR. For a fast bowler, Kamlesh is very good in the field as compared to others. He has the potential to become one of the finest fast bowling all-rounder India can produce.
Repaying the Trust
Nagarkoti was out of IPL however the Knight Riders board kept their confidence in the Rajasthan bowler by holding him for consecutive seasons and since he has achieved full wellness, the 20-year-old tearaway quick bowler is raising to go in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League and repay the trust shown by KKR.
