In the shortest format of the game where much of the emphasis is on the batsmen scoring big runs and leading the team, SRH have banked on their bowling prowess and have been successful. SRH are one of the most consistent sides in the IPL performing in almost all the seasons. Much of the success of the team goes to the consistent bowling performance from their bowlers.
But the shift of the matches to the UAE has come up with new challenges for SRH. They will have to improve their batting standards in order to be a staunch candidate for lifting the Cup.
The core of the Sun Risers looks formidable and have given some firepower by bringing in some youngsters, which will make them contenders for the IPL 2020 trophy.
IPL 2020 UAE: Sunrisers Hyderabad squad
Batsmen: Abdul Samad, David Warner, Jonny Bairstow (WK), Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey, Priyam Garg, Shreevats Goswami (WK), Virat Singh, and Wriddhiman Saha (WK).
All-Rounders: Abhishek Sharma, Fabian Allen, Mitchell Marsh, Mohammad Nabi, Sandeep Bavanaka, Sanjay Yadav, and Vijay Shankar.
Bowlers: Basil Thampi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Billy Stanlake, Khaleel Ahmed, Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma, Shahbaz Nadeem, Siddharth Kaul, and T Natarajan.
Under the guidance of VVS Laxman, Sunrisers Hyderabad have built a good squad but there won’t be much dilemma in picking a consistent playing 11. So here’s picking the best 11 for SRH.
SRH Best Playing 11
Openers: The captain, David Warner, leads the batting line-up along with the English wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow. These two were amazing in the last edition of the IPL where they amassed above 1000 runs among themselves. SRH will expect the same kind of performance from their foreign openers.
There’s no doubt about the form in which their captain David Warner is in, but they might be concerned about Bairstow. The wicketkeeper-batsman hasn’t been in the best of his form. If he fails to perform they might promote the Indian under-19 captain Priyam Garg to open and go with Wriddhiman Saha as the wicketkeeper-batsman.
Middle Order: Priyam Garg, Kane Williamson and Manish Pandey might form the middle order for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Priyam Garg position will mostly depend upon the type of partnership the openers produce. Generally playing as an opener for the under-19 team Priyam Garg might not play below number 4. The experienced campaigners, Kane Williamson and Manish Pandey are capable of handling the middle order effectively. Manish Pandey did not flourish for the Sunrisers last year but will look to do better for them in IPL 2020.
The team may opt for Mohamed Nabi in place of Kane Williamson if they go for a big bowling line-up considering the pitches in UAE.
Lower Order: With a long list of all-rounders at their disposal, SRH Hyderabad will think a lot about the players to be picked. They will go with trial and testing with them and choose a good lower order as the season progresses. Vijay Shankar, Rashid Khan and Abhishek Sharma are the favorites to start off with and depending upon the performances, we might see some changes.
The youngster Abhishek Sharma will be presented with a good opportunity and should make the best out of it.
Bowlers: The pace bowling attack for the Sunrisers will be spearheaded and will mostly be planned around their most formidable player, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar. With the type of bowling attack Hyderabad boasts they will come up with varied tactics to exploit the oppositions batting line-up.
While Bhuvaneshwar Kumar takes up one spot unopposed, the second pacer will be in the form of Khaleel Ahmed. The left-arm pacer performed outstandingly well last year for SRH and will look to continue in IPL 2020. The third spot will be fought among Sandeep Sharma, Siddharth Kaul, Basil Thampi and Billy Stanlake. Sandeep Sharma will start off with the campaign.
So that concludes the predicted best playing 11 for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2020. Like every other IPL franchise, they will surely have a task in selecting 4 overseas player with Jonny Bairstow and Mohamad Nabi.
David Warner(C), Jonny Bairstow(WK), Priyam Garg, Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar, Abhishek Sharma, Rashid Khan, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed & Sandeep Sharma.
